Minority Partnership Capital from Inflexion has seen Baker Tilly Netherlands scale from a national advisory firm into an integrated Benelux platform.
When consolidation within its accountancy industry started gaining speed, Baker Tilly Netherlands set the admirable ambition to be in the top 10. With organic CAGR of 13% over the previous five years, they sought a backer that would allow leadership to maintain control but access capital and expertise for growth. The search led to Inflexion, which acquired a minority shareholding in the Dutch accountancy and advisory firm in May 2025.
The reason they chose Inflexion? Inflexion’s local Amsterdam presence meant rapport was swiftly forged, and its professional services experience gave it valuable vision for the potential, with Baker Tilly able to draw on Inflexion’s value acceleration strategies including M&A, international expansion, and talent management. Inflexion’s flexible Partnership Capital minority offering was ultimately the best proposition, with management able to preserve entrepreneurial independence as they accelerated their strategic ambitions. Ronald Hoeksel, CEO of Baker Tilly Netherlands, says he and Inflexion Partner Sander Ruijter maintain a close and constructive dialogue, united by a shared commitment to the long-term success of the business. “We have one shared goal: to grow the business, make it bright and make it shine.”
And shine it has. Swift action has seen a strengthening of commercial performance, a build out of leadership across digital, people and commercial roles and governance, and, most significantly, becoming a true pan-Benelux platform. This year’s partnerships with Baker Tilly Belgium and Baker Tilly Luxembourg have transformed a strong domestic firm into a regional platform with further consolidation potential.
At the time of the investment, Baker Tilly Netherlands’ 1,000+ professionals were serving approximately 8,000 clients across four established service lines spanning Audit, Accountancy, Tax and Advisory. It was clear the business already had a strong market position, but could build on that and scale further.
Success drivers: commercial focus, AI, talent enhancement, acquisitions
Baker Tilly's strategic growth agenda is delivering strong results, supported by continued investment in people, quality, digital transformation and AI. A focus on professional excellence and client outcomes is driving strong progress, supported by investment in talent, innovation and transformation. The value creation plan is progressing swiftly, strengthening the business and laying the foundations for sustainable long-term growth.
AI is being leveraged across all Baker Tilly’s service lines and is being rolled out across the business, with the expectation of a significantly more efficient business.
Talent is crucial, typical of professional services businesses, and Baker Tilly has strengthened its leadership team to support the next phase of its growth and transformation agenda. New roles include a Chief Transformation Officer, M&A Director, Chief People Officer and Chief of Staff to help create a strong foundation for Baker Tilly’s growth plans.
International platform
Its first step towards becoming a regional platform came with the partnership with Baker Tilly Belgium in early 2026 and was increased further at the end of the summer when Baker Tilly Luxembourg joined the group. The business is now a truly cross-border Benelux platform and added significant revenue to the group. “It’s great to see how shared ambition can yield results when pursued carefully and in partnership,” says Sander.
The constituent firms retain their local entrepreneurship while benefitting from broader client reach, collaboration on AI and data, and additional leadership strength. The same value creation approach that drove Baker Tilly Netherlands has extended to Belgium and most recently Luxembourg, with the cross-border collaboration providing enhanced support for international clients and thus becoming a more future-ready professional services platform. The newly enlarged group comprises 1,500 employees across 25 offices.
“Businesses are operating increasingly across borders and are facing more complex regulations, accelerated digitalisation and ongoing technological change. By connecting expertise more closely across the Benelux region, Baker Tilly is strengthening its ability to support clients with breadth and depth on cross-border challenges,” comments Ronald.
Less than a year and a half into working together, it’s clear that ambition and growth can be greatly accelerated with aligned vision – and that minority investors can add significant value. Collaboration is creating long-term value as they invest in people and innovation to build a stronger business for clients and employees.
