Inflexion leads buy-out of Tandata Systems Limited

Inflexion Private Equity, the mid-market private equity investor, announces today that it has led the acquisition of Tandata Systems Limited, a leading software house and systems integrator, on behalf of its portfolio company ACIS Ltd.

The acquisition consolidates ACIS’ position as the leading traffic and real time passenger information supplier in the UK. The merger will add presence in airport, train and bus station markets to ACIS’ existing in bus transportation, with clients including County, District Borough Councils, PTEs and the major bus operators.

Established in 1991, Tandata is a software house and systems integrator specialising in the provision of information systems for passenger transport facilities, including Bus and Coach Stations, Rail Stations and International Airports. Based in Newbury, the firm employs 12 staff and has demonstrated strong year on year growth.

The market for real time information systems for public transport has grown strongly and continues to expand, reflecting a broad commitment to enhancing public transport usage and functionality. ACIS was acquired by Inflexion in April 2005.

Simon Turner, Managing Partner at Inflexion Private Equity, said: “Tandata is a natural fit for ACIS, and the combined company will have an increased market reach and management depth.”

Ian Buckley, CEO of ACIS, said: “The combination of ACIS and Tandata provides us with both a strong network across the main UK transport hubs and exciting growth opportunities by enabling us to offer our customers a wider product range.”

The current Tandata management team will be strengthened with the addition of directors, Steve Baker, FD and Ian Buckley, CEO from ACIS. Simon Turner and Christian Hamilton led the acquisition for Inflexion.
