We recently hosted Inflexion’s CFO dinner at our London office, bringing together CFOs and finance leaders from across our portfolio alongside colleagues from Inflexion’s Finance, Portfolio, and Value Acceleration teams.
The evening focused on AI and data. Three speakers led the discussion: Steve Jones, Managing Director at Accordion, where he leads the Data & AI Practice; Marc Smith, Group CFO of Axiom GRC; and Bart Borms, CFO of DWF.
Key takeaways included:
-
Ownership drives results
AI offers revenue, cost and efficiency opportunities, but success depends on senior sponsorship, dedicated AI owners and KPIs to track impact. -
Data comes first
Effective AI implementation relies on accurate, complete data. Without it, AI will give the wrong answers. -
The AI element may be small
Some AI projects are mainly an opportunity to review and optimise processes. -
Experiment, then focus
Start by experimenting and learning, then target discrete projects of any size to build momentum. Track the benefits and efficiencies, and measure ROI as well.
The dinner encouraged open discussion and new connections across Inflexion’s CFO community.
