Inflexion, a leading European mid-market private equity firm, is proud to announce that its portfolio company Medik8 has been recognised in BVCA’s ‘Excellence in Sustainability’ awards, for the portfolio company’s outstanding sustainability leadership.
Founded with a mission to create professional-strength skincare with a focus on ethical and sustainable practices, Medik8, a premium British skincare brand backed by Inflexion in 2021, has always placed sustainability at the heart of its business. In 2023, Medik8 achieved B Corp certification. Notably, the company reduced its scope 1 and 2 emissions to zero in the past year, due to the complete removal of fossil fuels from operations and commitment to 100% renewable energy purchase.
Judges praised Medik8’s pioneering work in sustainable packaging and responsible supply chain management, highlighting the company’s commitment to driving positive environmental impact while delivering commercial success. These initiatives set a high benchmark for portfolio companies across the industry.
Inflexion has actively championed a number of initiatives for Medik8 to further enhance its strong sustainability credentials. The company became a signatory of UN Global Compact, to implement universal sustainability principles and to take steps to support UN goals, and developed its new sustainability strategy, Medik8 Made. This involved conducting a materiality assessment for the first time, to produce a more focused strategy and enable employees to deliver where they can have the most impact. Under the three pillars of Carbon Champions, Responsible Manufacturers, and People & Community Allies, Medik8 set updated targets to further enhance its sustainability journey.
