Inflexion is delighted to announce that its portfolio company Xtrac has been recognised by this year’s Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, the most prestigious business awards in the UK. The company won its award in the Innovation category for its development of an Integrated Lightweight Electric Vehicle gearbox range. Xtrac is the latest Inflexion portfolio company to receive a Queen’s Award, joining Lintbells, Mobica and Aspen Pumps.
Established in 1984 and based in Berkshire, Xtrac is a world-leader in the manufacturer of high-performance transmissions for the motorsport industry. Xtrac is a distinguished ambassador for the UK's world-renowned motorsport industry, exporting approximately 70% of its products around the world and supplying most of the world's top motorsport teams. Xtrac also provides many automotive clients with new technologies adapted to recent regulatory developments, such as requirements for environmentally-friendly road cars, including its energy-efficient hybrid & electric vehicle transmission systems.
Given the COVID-19 pandemic, Xtrac has joined the UK motorsport industry's efforts to help tackle the Covid-19 pandemic, repurposing parts of its factory and staff to rapidly manufacture medical ventilator components for the Ventilator Challenge UK initiative.
We partnered with Xtrac in 2017 to support this world-leading company’s growth strategy and to help its highly experienced management team achieve their ambitious expansion plans. Having supported the extension of Xtrac’s factory and the purchase of additional machinery, it is incredibly encouraging to see the company recognised by this prestigious award. We are also extremely proud at how the company has used parts of its factory to rapidly manufacture medical ventilator components for the Ventilator Challenge UK initiative.
To receive such prestigious recognition for the highly skilled accomplishments of our people is a very welcome boost for us all at this time. This is the second time that Xtrac has been recognised by the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, having previously received an award for Export and Excellence in 1992. I’d like to commend the hard work and dedication of all our employees which make our success possible, and I’d like to congratulate our fast-growing High-Performance Automotive business unit, headed by James Setter, which led the implementation of the winning Integrated Lightweight Electric Vehicle transmission project.
