Inflexion Private Equity today announces that it has expanded into North America with a focus on supporting portfolio company M&A and broader business development. Inflexion-backed businesses will benefit from direct access to an experienced, senior North American professional with an established network, offering local insight and direct access to this key market.
Inflexion’s North American presence will be based in Boston and led by Whitney Bower, who joins as Senior Adviser. Whit brings with him over 25 years of experience in building businesses, including working with BC Partners, HgCapital and 3i, and has an MBA from Harvard Business School. In 2014, he founded Noble Rock Advisors, an investment and advisory firm.
Inflexion has a consistent strategy of backing ambitious businesses to grow through M&A, digital enhancement and international expansion, with portfolio companies set to benefit from the firm’s enhanced global presence. To date, the firm has backed 30 international acquisitions in 17 countries for its portfolio companies, which have operations spanning 70 countries. Inflexion’s portfolio companies have been operating in the US since 2004, and a number have made strategic acquisitions of US-based businesses. Examples of US M&A include Halo Technology’s acquisition of Add-On Computer Peripherals, Kynetec’s acquisition of Market Probe and CloserStill’s acquisition of several US-based conferences.
We have always recognised that as the world gets more connected there are increasing opportunities for our portfolio businesses to grow in overseas markets. Our expansion into North America follows our successful expansion into Brazil, China and India. We are confident that Whit’s significant private equity experience as well as 25 years’ experience working directly with entrepreneurs and executives makes him the ideal person to support our portfolio companies’ growth in North America.
I am excited to join the Inflexion team and look forward to expanding their international footprint and advising their portfolio companies on the ground as they seek to grow their businesses both organically and through M&A. A local presence will provide the platform needed to take advantage of the great opportunities North America offers for UK companies.
