Highlights
- Curinos has built AI into the core of its products, not just its operations, focusing on use cases that directly drive value for customers.
- Curinos One, launched in May 2026, is already delivering strong client results, such as $1.6bn in new-to-bank balances at a $100bn+ digital-first bank.
- Inflexion supported Curinos by helping to frame AI initiatives around ROI, product strategy and practical implementation.
AI’s potential extends beyond operational efficiency. At Curinos, it is shaping new products, improving data collection and helping customers understand the value of the platform.
Inflexion is working closely with its portfolio to assess and embed AI where it creates the most long-term value, combining in-house digital and data expertise with a wider network of specialists who work directly alongside management teams.
In the first of our series on AI across the Inflexion portfolio, we explore how a focus on measurable business outcomes is guiding that approach.
Banking intelligence
Curinos was born when FTSE 100 Informa PLC partnered with Inflexion's Partnership Capital in 2021 to create a US-headquartered leader in financial intelligence.
Since then, banks are increasingly seeking ways to deliver more personalised customer experiences. A frustration within many financial institutions is that the promise of AI has outpaced results.
Curinos is using AI not simply to enhance operations but to reshape how its products deliver value – embedding AI into the heart of the product itself.
A priority has been avoiding hype in favour of measurable business outcomes, and the power of working with Inflexion is they're all about growing business value.
“We've narrowed down on use cases that connect directly to customer value or internal business value. That focus has been key,” explains Olly, who brings a rare depth of experience having worked with AI since the early 1990s.
Curinos One
Launched in May 2026, Curinos One is a new AI-native decision intelligence platform for financial institutions. It combines a bank's own first-party data with external market signals and Curinos' proprietary benchmark intelligence into a single decisioning engine. Blending generative AI and reinforcement learning, the platform helps retail banking strategists and analysts move beyond fragmented analytics toward decisions at the customer level.
The aim is to help banks move more effectively from insight to action. Across marketing, pricing and product strategy, Curinos One continuously observes every signal across a customer's relationship, decides the single best next action by weighing predicted outcomes against the bank's goals, and then acts through the bank's existing channels while learning from the result to make the next decision even sharper.
Crucially, Curinos One has been developed specifically for the banking industry. Industry-specific compliance guardrails are therefore built into the product, not bolted on, while humans retain visibility and control over how outputs are reached.
Throughout the development of Curinos One, Inflexion supported the business by helping frame AI initiatives around ROI, product strategy and practical implementation. ''They understand where others are seeing real impact rather than hype,'' Olly says, referring both to Inflexion's value acceleration team as well as the collective experience of its sizeable portfolio.
Early client results point to tangible commercial impact
- A $100bn+ digital-first bank generated $1.6bn in new-to-bank balances and a 10x return on its platform investment, with its total cost of funds 75% below its standard acquisition cost.
- A $60bn regional bank achieved a 200% higher response rate from new-to-bank current account households than a matched control group, alongside 44% higher balances and comparable retention after 120 days.
- A bank targeting mass-affluent customers achieved 3x the number of funded accounts and more than 2.5x average balances compared with organic acquisitions.
Scaling data collection
In terms of existing products, AI is helping Curinos grow more efficiently. A new AI-powered data capture tool has been designed to improve one of its most important but repetitive activities: gathering pricing data from almost every banking institution in North America and the UK. This data feeds the products Curinos uses to analyse market positions and optimise commercial outcomes for its clients.
Since launching in mid-2026, the new tool has already improved efficiency, with Curinos expecting productivity across the function to double by end of year – meaning broader, more current market data reaching clients faster, while reducing the burden on internal teams.
Making customer value more visible
AI is also helping Curinos in pricing conversations with its customers, ultimately strengthening retention.
While daily users of Curinos products may rely heavily on the platform's analytics, senior decision-makers, several steps removed, have sometimes struggled to see the full value being generated, often viewing outcomes through an outdated or incomplete lens.
AI is now helping to close that gap. By surfacing richer user personas and patterns of engagement, customers can now better understand how products are being used within their organisations and the impact they are having. For clients, that means stronger internal visibility into their own investment – and a clearer, more current case for the value they're getting.
Across product development, data collection and customer engagement, Curinos’ approach follows the same principle: focus AI investment on a clear business need. The opportunity lies not simply in adopting the technology, but in connecting it to the value their customers receive.
How does Inflexion help portfolio companies capture the AI opportunity?
AI cuts across data, systems, cybersecurity, commercial strategy, talent, M&A and governance, so Inflexion’s dedicated value acceleration team works alongside management teams across all of these areas. “It is very much a cross-disciplinary effort rather than simply a technology challenge,” says Alex Mathers, Inflexion Partner in charge of value acceleration.
The specialist AI and data capabilities required are scarce, and many mid-market businesses have not previously needed to build this kind of expertise in-house. “We help strengthen leadership teams by recruiting specialist talent, coaching existing executives and addressing knowledge gaps, drawing on Inflexion Ignite, our global network of trusted value creation specialists,” Alex explains.
Inflexion also works closely with major technology providers and implementation partners, helping portfolio companies access expertise and commercial advantages that can otherwise be difficult for a mid-market business to secure independently.
