Inflexion's Value Acceleration team hosted a lunch at the Inflexion offices for portfolio strategy / transformation officers and chiefs of staff. Hosted by William Menz and the Inflexion VA team, the session explored the theme of “Human side of value creation” – discussing the people, teams, relationships needed to deliver results. Two portfolio company transformation leads presented their experiences and key success factors – from Baker Tilly Netherlands and FDM UK. The group also heard about hiring trends for these roles from the Barton Partnership.
From the day’s discussions and experience sharing, key insights were:
- CEO sponsorship is the biggest predictor of transformation success,
- progress depends on communicating the vision for success relentlessly at every level, and,
- impact comes from matching the pace of change to the organisation’s capacity - feeling of “after comfort”, but “before panic”
