Inflexion appoints chairman to HKI

Inflexion Private Equity announces today the appointment of Stephen Warshaw as Chairman of Healthcare Knowledge International, which comprises CHKS Ltd in the UK and Iasist in Spain. In this new role he will be overseeing the development of the company and liaising closely between the Inflexion portfolio management team and HKI’s senior management headed by Graham Harries as CEO.

Inflexion originally acquired HKI in an MBO in April 2004. HKI is the leading provider of independent clinical and financial benchmark reports and consultancy to NHS Trusts and Spanish Health Authorities to improve their efficiency and effectiveness. His appointment comes at a successful time for the company with profits having increased by 45% from last year’s results and follows on from two in-fill acquisitions: Healthcare Quality Services (HQS), the leading healthcare accreditation business and Cardiff Research Consortium (CRC), a unique pharmaceutical benchmarking business.

Stephen is a highly experienced non-executive Chairman and currently holds this position for Cambridge Education Group and Iris Software Ltd, the £100m buyout backed by HG Capital Partners, currently the subject. of a £500 million merger and recapitalization with Computer Software Group majority funded by Hellman & Friedman. His career history has brought him extensive knowledge of the healthcare information arena from his role as CEO of the €600m Cinven/Carlyle/Apax LBO, Santemedia Holdings (MediMedia) and latterly, United Business Media. Prior to this he was an MD at Veronis Suhler International , Chief Executive of Informa Publishing Group and CEO of Reed Elsevier’s Medical Group.

Stephen will be joining HKI as part of Inflexion’s commitment to work with our experienced management teams to increase value and maximise growth opportunities in each company by strengthening management teams and structures, acquiring in-fill businesses where appropriate and providing finance for organic growth. Inflexion works with a number of business leaders and experts on a daily basis, deploying their knowledge and experience for maximum benefit across its portfolio.
