Tim-Smallbone Tim Smallbone Partner

Tim Smallbone

Tim opened Inflexion’s Manchester office in 2004 and is a Partner and a member of the Investment Committee. He leads our Enterprise team, bringing market-leading investment expertise to companies with an equity requirement of £10m to £20m. Inflexion’s Enterprise Fund is dedicated to accelerating growth in lower mid-market companies, supported by Inflexion’s unique value creation resources and wide network of industry leaders.

Tim led Inflexion’s Enterprise Fund investment in MyPolicy, joining the board, as well as our investment in British Engineering Services and Lintbells. He was also involved in the investment and subsequent exits of Harrington Brooks, Viking Moorings, Ideal Shopping Direct, SMD and Marston amongst others.

After achieving a first in Civil Engineering at Manchester University, Tim quickly realised working on building sites wasn’t for him and opted instead for an in-house job with PwC, where he gained his ACA. He went on to work with Gresham Private Equity, Montagu Capital, Granville Private Equity and KPMG Corporate Finance, where he successfully led buy-side advisory services to private equity firms in the north of England before joining Inflexion.

Highly experienced in supporting management teams through the economic cycle, Tim has guided portfolio companies through finding and completing acquisitions, investing in infrastructure for future growth and managing changing market dynamics to create opportunity.

I joined Inflexion when it was a small business with big ideas. It’s a great organisation to be part of; full of intelligence, energy and ambition. Tim Smallbone, Partner

Tim has a passion for all things Manchester City and a strong dislike of weekend DIY.
