Malcolm Coffin

Malcolm is a Partner based in Inflexion’s Manchester office. With a particular focus on the energy and building products sectors he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and completing investments. Since joining Inflexion in 2007, Malcolm has been involved in numerous transactions, including our investments in Bollington Wilson Group, Calco and UK Power Reserve, where he holds board positions, as well as investments in CTC Aviation Group, Rhead Group, Ideal Shopping Direct, NPW and SMD, and the successful exits of CP Electronics, Ideal Shopping Direct and Harrington Brooks.

In addition, Malcolm is heavily involved in fundraising, having supported Inflexion’s dual fundraise, securing £1.05bn for Inflexion Buyout Fund IV and Partnership Capital Fund I in 2014.

With an MA in Social and Political Sciences from Cambridge University, Malcolm began his career at Deloitte where he gained his ACA as part of the financial services team. He left to join Rothschild in their M&A team in London, advising major corporates and private equity clients, before meeting Tim Smallbone and moving to Manchester to join the Inflexion team.

Malcolm has experience across multiple sectors from retail and consumer to specialist engineering. He is active across all aspects of a transaction, from analysis and valuation through to completion and beyond.

He is a keen runner, having taken part in two London marathons. Despite living in Manchester and his colleague’s best attempts; he remains a lifelong Chelsea fan.
